Lhasa Limited expands Nitrites Database to support nitrosamine risk assessments

This pre-competitive data sharing initiative facilitates anonymous sharing of proprietary data on the level of nitrites in common excipients, solvents and reagents. As a result, members have access to a comprehensive dataset enabling them to assess their drug products for the variability and likelihood of nitrite reactions resulting in nitrosamine formation – mitigating the need for in-house testing.

New nitrites data release

With the latest update, the Lhasa Nitrites 2025.1.0 database now contains:

  • 766 new results records, bringing the total to 2,570.
  • 13 new product identifiers, bringing the total identifiers to 132.

How does the Lhasa Nitrites data sharing initiative work?

The Nitrites database acts as a central platform to hold the data donated by organisation members on the levels of nitrites in pharmaceutical drug products.

Used in this way, the Nitrites database allows members to understand the risk posed and aid in complying with nitrosamines risk assessments in the drug product.

Joining the initiative also enables members to be a part of an industry collaboration, which actively discusses the current landscape and challenge nitrites pose, to then shape the scientific direction of this initiative.
