How to replace animal testing for skin sensitisation using defined approaches 800 px 2

Earlier this year the OECD published test guideline 497, which describes how to combine New Approach Methodologies within a defined approach to replace the use of animal testing when assessing skin sensitisation. One of the three approved defined approaches in the guideline, ITSv1 by Kao, includes Lhasa's in silico expert knowledge tool Derek Nexus as a required information source.

In this webinar Dr. Silvia Casati, from the European Union Reference Laboratory for alternatives to animal testing, discussed the history and content of this test guideline. Dr. Taku Nishijo and Ms. Kanako Nakayama, from Kao Corporation, then presented an overview of ITSv1 and showed how it can be practically used in combination with read-across. Finally, Lhasa Senior Scientist, Dr. Martyn Chilton gave a short overview Lhasa's recent work in this area, including a demonstration of a new application which implements the ITSv1 defined approach.

This webinar lasted approximately 2 hours and ended with a live Q&A session.
