2021 Current Status of New Approach Methodologies (NAMs) for Regulatory Purposes
The Interdepartmental Group on Hazards and Risks of Chemicals (IGHRC) and The British Toxicology Society (BTS) hosted a joint awareness event titled “Current Status of New Approach Methodologies (NAMs) for Regulatory Purposes”.
This two-day event introduced the efforts of the FSA / COTs strategic thinking on their Road Map towards the introduction of NAMs, along with the current scientific status of many NAM OECD test guidelines, and guidance in development.
Lhasa Senior Scientist, Dr. Martyn Chilton was be a panel member at this event alongside Regulatory Science Advisor at Humane Society International, Donna Macmillan. They discussed the OECD no. 497 test guideline and Lhasa’s Skin Sensitisation web application which implements the ITSv1 defined approach.
This awareness event was aimed towards UK government scientists, risk assessors, risk managers, and policy makers together with BTS regulatory section members, academic test method developers, CROs, industry sectors and relevant NGOs.
