Dr. Martyn Chilton, Principal Scientist

Name: Dr. Martyn Chilton
Job Title: Principal Scientist
My name is Martyn, and I joined Lhasa in 2015 as a scientist. Prior to this I studied at the University of Sheffield, where I completed an MChem in Chemistry with a study in Europe, spending a year of my degree studying chemistry in sunny Seville, Spain. I stayed on in (less sunny) Sheffield to carry out a PhD in Synthetic Organic Chemistry which I finished at the beginning of 2015, having investigated a new way of making some pharmaceutically interesting building blocks from naturally occurring amino acids.
After my PhD I knew that I wanted to continue to work in chemistry, but was looking to move away from the lab. As such, working for Lhasa seemed the perfect opportunity, enabling me to put to use the skills I had learned whilst studying chemistry in a really interesting and stimulating scientific environment. As a scientist I am involved in the science that underlies Lhasa’s predictive software. Since starting, I have had the opportunity to learn more about skin sensitisation and metabolism. I am also enjoying becoming more familiar with data analytics and using new tools to aid in that process.
When I’m not at work, I enjoy watching films, playing board games and bouldering in the Peak District whenever I get the chance (and the weather holds out!).
