Laura Johnston, Associate Director of Applied Sciences

Name: Laura Johnston
Job Title: Associate Director of Applied Sciences
I began my career at Lhasa in 2012 when I joined Lhasa’s Account Management Team. After enjoying studying Chemistry at Durham University, I was confident my passion lay in working with people outside the laboratory environment. Working as a member of the Account Management Team allowed me to make a tangible contribution to the experiences of Lhasa membership community, and I enjoyed evolving my scientific knowledge through delivering training and technical support to Lhasa’s membership organisations. This gave me the opportunity to better understand the industries within which Lhasa’s members operate within, and to collaborate with extremely talented individuals and teams.
Throughout my time within the Account Management Team, I found one of the role’s most exciting opportunities was the possibility to identify potential new scientific projects. I therefore applied for a position within the Global Alliance Team at Lhasa, who are primarily responsible for identifying, scoping, winning and leading new strategic projects, allowing Lhasa to expand into new scientific and technical areas.
Since joining the Global Alliance Team in 2017, I’ve enjoyed the level of variety the role has brought, with each project bringing with it a new challenge.
Outside of work, I enjoy socialising with friends, and like to go out for drinks and dinner as often as I can! I am also a keen runner, most recently completing the Blackpool half marathon.
