Dr. Jean-Francois Marchaland, Research Software Developer
Name: Dr. Jean-Francois Marchaland
Job Title: Research Software Developer
I’m Jean-Francois, I am a member of Lhasa’s research team and I’ve been working here as a developer of Java technologies since August 2015.
My route to Lhasa has been varied, beginning in academia working for Professor Peter Johnson in several cheminformatics postdoctoral positions before moving to software development. Prior to joining Lhasa, my software development roles involved developing software for sports databases and building systems for mobile device management and billing analysis.
My role involves the development of a new dataset registry which could be used in several of the research projects at Lhasa. I enjoy working with and learning about a broad range of technologies. This is certainly the case here as I get exposed to complex database systems, web services and graphic user interfaces technologies.
Outside of Lhasa, I enjoy spending a lot of time with my partner and daughter and occasionally I find the time for a bit of indoors route climbing.
