Lhasa Limited shared knowledge shared progress

Alun Myden, Principal Scientist

Name: Dr. Alun Myden

Job Title: Principal Scientist

I am Alun, a member of Lhasa’s science team since February 2015. I joined Lhasa shortly after completing my PhD in Chemical Biology at the University of Leeds. My research during this period covered organic synthesis of potential substrates for an aldolase and the chemical modification of proteins.

Prior to my PhD studies I obtained a master’s degree in chemical process research (University of Leeds), a degree course which intended to bridge a gap between organic chemistry, process chemistry and chemical engineering.

I applied to work at Lhasa for several reasons. After the PhD I decided I would like to pursue a career in the field of science but not in the lab! Lhasa provides intelligent alternatives to predicting toxicity, metabolism, chemical degradation and more. I felt that the knowledge gained through my studies would be put to good use at the company. I also felt I could learn a lot and develop many more skills from working at Lhasa.

Currently my work is focused around developing knowledge to improve the performance of our expert-based prediction software.

Out of work I most often find myself playing the guitar, cooking and watching rugby (league or union). I also enjoy days out walking in the countryside and reading.
