I’m Alan and I’m a Software Developer at Lhasa Limited. I completed a Masters Degree in Chemistry at Oxford University in 2012, with the research year spent working on a methodology for the synthesis of tetrahydroisoquinolines.
Following this, I decided that I wanted to move away from the lab toward working more with software, and began self-teaching programming. This led me to begin working with Professor Peter Johnson at Leeds University for a few months on the reaction database for the Chem21 European green chemistry project.
Keen to continue working with both Chemistry and programming, I joined Lhasa as a graduate test analyst in March 2014, working primarily on Mirabilis, and in September 2015 moved to Software Development. In SD I worked on our chemistry engine for two years, then the Zeneth prediction engine, and recently moved to doing mainly full-stack web development.
My main hobbies are bridge and judo, and any leftover time usually gets spent playing computer games online with friends.
