What is the role?

Due to team expansion, we're recruiting for 2 Scientists to work with a small team of scientists to develop a predictive degradation software program, using your chemistry knowledge. This will involve collecting, curating, and analysing literature and/or data with a view to developing ‘rules’ for inclusion in the software. In addition, there will be ample opportunities to collaborate with the wider Science Team, other departments in the company as well as present to internal and external audiences.

Your responsibilities

.

 

  • Collate and critically analyse literature and/or data relevant to the degradation field.
  • Identify and interpret trends within this information to develop knowledge ‘rules’ that support the enhancement of the software program.
  • Work in multifunctional teams to support the delivery of high-quality science.
  • Work both independently and in collaboration with others to enable effective outcomes.
  • Demonstrate initiative and problem-solving skills.

 

Communication

  • Present scientific research within the Science Team, across the organisation and externally.
  • Collaborate directly with internal partners and support collaboration with external partners.
  • Proactively maintain and improve your own professional development with support from your line manager; this would include things like attending workshops, training events, conferences, writing publications, learning a coding language or data analytics program.
  • Undertake additional tasks and responsibilities which may be reasonably expected of the role as necessary to achieve the objectives of the team and company goals.

Your skills and experience

 

.

  • An understanding of organic chemistry, particularly reaction mechanisms
  • Experience in searching, retrieving, and curating scientific data
  • Problem-solving skills, including the ability to identify and interpret trends and formulate rules from complex chemical data
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, presentation, and organisational skills
  • Knowledge of degradation including experimental forced degradation studies
  • Experience of using scientific software tools to apply new approaches/solutions to scientific problems
  • Knowledge of coding/scripting/database query languages or the use of data analytics tools

Education and qualifications

.

  • Educated to degree level or equivalent in a relevant biological or chemical science
  • PhD or Postdoctoral level or equivalent experience in a relevant biological or chemical science
