Career history, education and experience:

Ed Lindup graduated in pharmacy from Cardiff University in 1965. He then joined the Toxicology Department of Glaxo Research Ltd where he also qualified as a pharmacist, remaining registered for 42 years. Just over a year later he became a PhD student with Dennis Parke in the Biochemistry department of Professor R. T. Williams FRS at St Mary’s Hospital Medical School in London. Following the appointment of Dennis to the foundation chair of Biochemistry at the University of Surrey, he completed his PhD there and became a Lecturer, subsequently joining the Department of Pharmacology and Therapeutics at the University of Liverpool. He retired from full time work as a Senior Lecturer in 2004 but continues to give postgraduate lectures. He has more than 40 years’ experience of research and teaching in the fields of drug metabolism and toxicity, has presented at international meetings and served on the editorial boards of a number of journals including: British Journal of Pharmacology, British Journal of Clinical Pharmacology, Xenobiotica and Drug Safety. He served for over six years as the representative of the British Pharmacological Society on the Toxicology Specialty Committee of the Royal College of Pathologists.

Ed lives in Formby and is married with three daughters and two granddaughters.
