Diane Bureau, Web Application Designer
Name: Diane Bureau
Job Title: Web Application Designer
Hello! My name is Diane and I work in User Experience (UX).
After studying Business Computing in Strasbourg, east of France, I moved to Ireland in 1999 and the UK in 2002 (London then Leeds). Over the years I have been involved in many diverse web projects, such as branding, e-commerce and web applications. I have worked for companies in IT, financial online broadcasting, insurance and more recently, in pharmaceutical when I joined Lhasa in 2014. I can say that even after 17 years I still enjoy the challenges the Digital industry has to offer. All though my background lies in web and visual design, my main focus has always been on to getting to know what the users want out of a specific product. I have always believed that understanding their needs, wants and limitations is paramount. Not just in helping them to achieve their goals, but by doing it in the most efficient way possible.
At Lhasa, we design and build complex scientific software. With data-heavy interfaces, the challenges are many. As we progressively move our software to the web, there is a great opportunity to remodel our interfaces to fit the science rather than the other way around. As well as driving the early stage of a project design, I remain actively present throughout its full life-cycle, liaising with all parts of our business.
My main duties for a specific project are to look at the user and business requirements and think about the user journey and workflow. When these concepts have been approved I move on to design low to high fidelity prototypes that can be tested with our members.
As the Senior UX/UI designer it is also in my remit to make sure that all of our projects follow a similar simplified and innovative design approach, so that our software gives out a familiar and consistent user experience to our members.
Outside of Lhasa, I enjoy spending time with my partner and our two children, meeting with friends and going for walks. I also really enjoy photography and every now and then I feel compelled to try out something new and creative. At the moment I am doing an evening course on characters illustration.
