I'm Carlos Eduardo and I joined Lhasa Limited in June 2016.
I have a rather international background having studied and worked in Brazil, Germany, Belgium and the USA. In Brazil, I studied at the Federal University of São Paulo (UNIFESP), where I was first exposed to biochemistry and bioinformatics. That soon led me to Göttingen, Germany, where I joined the International Max Planck Research School (IMPRS) for Molecular Biology. In 2013, I completed my Ph.D. at the Max Planck Institute for Biophysical Chemistry in Göttingen, Germany, which focused on the biophysics of protein synthesis. Shortly after that, I joined the European Research Council in Brussels, Belgium, for a traineeship on data science and science policy. In 2015, I moved to San Francisco, USA, where I worked at Stanford University, developing a pattern recognition software for protein folding studies.
In Lhasa, I am the US West Coast outpost as well as the contact point for Brazil. I feel that in Lhasa I will be able to combine several interests of mine; putting scientific research, computational approaches, and efficient resource management under the same umbrella.
In my free time, I like to do a bit of everything – flying kites by the Pacific (or the Atlantic), having a hot chocolate on the Alps (or the Rockies), playing board games (Ticket to Ride is a personal favorite) or watching football (mostly Brazilian league).
